Pseudopanax Crassifolium

This extraordinary plant in its juvenile phase has a single, erect flexible stem from which long thin leathery leaves with serrated margins hang pointing downwards. As it matures the leaves shorten and become wider with margins shallowly toothed. As a mature tree it forms a round ball-like head which can be up to 4m across on a very straight long trunk.
